Levantine Goods: From a Protein Bar to Premium Olive Oil

What is Levantine? An olive oil company? A soap company? Isn’t it Lebanese? Why isn’t it called Lebanese Goods? What does Levantine even mean? What does it have to do with fitness? Ironically, it all started with a protein bar. Levantine Goods is the brainchild of Tony Haydar, a Lebanese-Canadian fitness coach with a passion for the time-tested taste of the Mediterranean diet. As a key component of this diet, olive oil was always on his radar. Yet, in his travels across North America, no store carried oils as flavorful as what he’d grown accustomed to in his ancestral village of Arqa, Lebanon. One evening in the US, while searching for a post-workout protein bar, Tony stumbled into a store that had just imported European olive oils. After tasting several, his homesickness deepened. “Do you carry any Middle Eastern olive oils?” Tony asked. The staff had never tried one—nor carried any. That moment sparked an idea: if an olive oil lover like him had never encountered stone-pressed Lebanese olive oil in North America, most people probably hadn’t either. After an expedited shipment from home, an emptied bottle, and a store-owner’s encouragement, Tony realized there was a treasure waiting to be shared.

Our Olive Oil Journey

The name “Levantine” was chosen because researchers believe the Levant region—Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and surrounding areas—to be the birthplace of olive oil itself. Seafaring Phoenicians once spread olive oil across the Mediterranean; now Tony and his team are doing the same for today’s world.

For centuries, olives from Tony’s village were hand-picked and stone-pressed, enjoyed only by local families. But in February 2024, Tony and YG García, a Puerto Rican accountant with a passion for Lebanese culture, officially launched Levantine Goods on TikTok Shop.

After many live streams and viral videos, Levantine’s Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil became the top-selling olive oil on the platform.
